about dart
DART is a 501(c)(3), non-profit animal welfare organization for the Mountains & Valleys of Dade County, GA including Lookout Mountain, Sand Mountain and the adjacent rural valleys. There is no shelter servicing this broad area, nor enforced animal protection laws or regulations. For generations, ignorance about and indifference to basic animal welfare needs has been perpetuated, resulting in a tremendous overpopulation of animals struggling to exist in unacceptable conditions.
We are committed to reducing the excessive overpopulation of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens in this region. Since 2006 we've been providing low-cost spay/neutering for pets and facilitating temporary care and adoptions for many stray, abandoned and unwanted pets. Additionally, our purpose is to educate people in the humane treatment and responsible care of animals.
Volunteers of DART consist of men and women with a variety of professional backgrounds and experiences that work together as a cohesive team. All willingly and without compensation, contribute their available time and expertise to this end.
We must continue to raise money to carry on these life-saving programs. Please consider making DART a recipient of your tax-deductible contributions.
Grateful appreciation and recognition goes to the following corporate and private foundations for having awarded grant funding for specific projects to DART:
